Advanced Social Worker (Children)

Provide a local professional social care service for children, young people and families in need;

• Social worker with at least 5 years post qualification experience required to work in a busy Locality team undertaking child protection, child in need and court work. The team picks work up after Single Assessment/ ICPC etc and works through to a permanence plan or completion
• Contribute to a range of voluntary and statutory social work activities and carry out professional social work tasks in accordance with recognised social work procedures, evidence based practice and professional social work ethics;
• Manage a case load of “children in need” “at risk of significant harm and / or “looked after,” adhering to legislative and procedural requirements, ensuring the best possible outcomes for the children concerned.

The role involves experience of Looked After Children aged 16 upwards so experience in this area is a necessity. Experience of leaving care teams, transitions and preparation of independence work. Knowledge of young people who have experienced trauma and/or those who have complex needs is a distinct advantage.
